James “Jim” Hanagan, J.D. is an Arlington native and practiced law for 16 years before starting his financial services career in 1993.
Jim received a B.A. in psychology from The University of Virginia and graduated from William and Mary’s Marshall-Wythe School of Law. He is a member of the Virginia Bar Association, including membership in the VBA’s Trust and Estate Section.
He holds Series 6 and 63 registrations with FINRA and is licensed in Virginia, Maryland and the District of Columbia to sell life, accident/health, variable insurance and securities products.
Jim is active in the youth sports, business and non-profit communities. He served on The City of Alexandria’s Youth Sports Commission, and coached a variety of baseball, basketball and soccer teams when his sons were playing sports. Jim also served on the board of directors for the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce and was also a board member and president of the Eisenhower Avenue Public-Private Partnership.
He has served on the parish council for Blessed Sacrament Church, and on the board of directors for the Ronald McDonald House, the Ronald McDonald Pro-Am Golf Tournament, the Capital Hospice Foundation Board, the Alexandria Center for Employment, and the Alexandria Senior Citizens Service Center, including three terms as president.
A graduate of Gonzaga College High School, Jim is a past president of the Gonzaga Fathers Club. He has co-chaired the Gonzaga D.C. Classic Basketball tournament and is a member of the steering committee for the Gonzaga Business Network. He is also a member of the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce.
